Therma-Tru Corporation purchases Benchmark Doors, the light-commercial door manufacturer based in Fredericksburg, VA. Therma-Tru also expands its commercial operation by opening a 2nd HMF facility in Phoenix, AZ.

Therma-Tru’s commercial division is renamed “BenchmarkHMF” which consists of the Phoenix, Wilmington, and Fredericksburg operations. BenchmarkHMF is a member of the Steel Door Institute (SDI)

The Phoenix, AZ operation is sold to Mantra Holdings, Inc. The company is renamed Hollow Metal Xpress, or HMX. Long time employee and then Plant Manager, Derek Maczka continues to run the operation as President and General Manager.
